G-20 Global Food Regulators Summit in New Delhi to Focus on Food Safety

The G-20 Global Food Regulators Summit 2023, organized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), is set to take place in New Delhi on July 20th and 21st. This huge occasion marks the first time the summit is being held outside Rome, Italy, and emphasizes the crucial aspect of food safety, which demands equal attention as food security.

With food regulators from over 40 nations, representatives from 30 international organizations, and 25 international research institutes and universities in attendance, the summit aims to harmonize global food safety standards, enhance regulatory frameworks, and ensure the provision of safe and high-quality food for consumers worldwide.

Another striking initiative is the common regulators platform called “SaNGRAH” (Safe food for Nations: Global Food Regulatory Authorities Handbook). This far reaching data set of Food Administrative Specialists from 76 nations overall will give significant data on mandates, food safety ecosystems, food testing facilities, and contact details. The SaNGRAH platform will be available in Hindi, English, and six Indian languages, further promoting inclusivity and accessibility.

The G-20 Global Food Regulators Summit will introduce a Common Digital Dashboard, an integrated IT portal providing comprehensive information on standards, regulations, notifications, advisories, guidelines, contamination limits, and the latest developments by food regulators in India.
