The WRX Project Midnight is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four engine. It generates a 670 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque. The engine revs up to 9,500 rpm. Power is delivered to all four wheels via an all-wheel-drive system.

The car features a carbon fiber body and a lightened chassis. It weighs in at just 2,469 pounds making it nearly 300 pounds lighter than the Airslayer and 1,000 pounds lighter than a standard WRX.

The car has ultra-wide aerodynamic bodywork. It includes a larger wing compared to the WRX ARA24 gravel rally car. The suspension geometry is specifically designed for tarmac.

The car rides on 18×11-inch OZ Racing Superturismo LMP magnesium wheels. It uses 280/650R18 Yokohama ADVAN slick tires.

The engine is the latest evolution of Subaru Motorsports USA’s rallycross powerplant. This engine helped Scott Speed win the Nitro Rallycross Teams Championship in 2021.

The car will make its debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The event runs from July 11-14, where Scott Speed will drive the car in the hillclimb event.

While the Airslayer was versatile and used in various stunts, Project Midnight is focused solely on tarmac speed.

The shift from the 17-inch rallycross wheels of the Airslayer to the 18-inch wheels of Project Midnight is a change planned at improving tarmac performance.

The WRX Project Midnight weighs 2,469 pounds making it approximately 1,000 pounds lighter than the standard production WRX.

The carbon fiber body features numerous aerodynamic enhancements including winglets and a massive front spoiler.

Aggressively flared wheel arches contribute to its widebody appearance. The rear wing is a modified version of the one used on Subaru USA’s rally car.

The chassis has been lightened for racing. A custom suspension specifically tuned for tarmac complements the car’s overall design.

Project Midnight rides on 18-inch magnesium OZ Racing wheels. These wheels are wrapped in slick Yokohama Advan racing tires.

The Subaru Airslayer, a 2020 WRX STI rallycross car, was the predecessor to Project Midnight. The Airslayer featured an 862-hp engine and set a lap record at the Lightning Lap event.

While Project Midnight has less power (670 hp), it is lighter and more optimized for tarmac performance.

Rallycross champion and former F1 driver Scott Speed will be at the wheel of Project Midnight. Scott Speed praises the car for its rallycross roots, wider tires, track and unique geometry.

Project Midnight will make its official in-person debut on July 11 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Subaru aims to set new records at Goodwood and other venues in the coming months.
