Devin isn’t your average coding assistant. Equipped with its own shell, code editor, and web browser, Devin can independently manage the entire process of creating and releasing complete software applications.

Unlike other large language models (LLMs) such as Google’s Gemini or OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Devin operates autonomously, methodically breaking down software development tasks into manageable steps.

Its capabilities is beyond simple coding assistance, it can tackle a wide range of tasks from learning new technologies to debugging code and training AI models. While Devin has autonomy its purpose isn’t to replace human engineers but to complement their skills.

It collaborates with human engineers providing real-time updates accepting feedback, and participating in design decisions. By automating routine tasks, Devin enables engineers to focus on more creative and complex problems.

The performance speaks for itself as it outperforms rival AI models by a huge margin, with a 13.86% issue resolution rate compared to under 2% achieved by its rivals.

Tested on real-world challenges Devin has demonstrated its efficacy on platforms like Upwork, where it tackles coding tasks including debugging computer vision models and generating detailed reports.

Cognition the startup behind Devin has raised $21 million in a Series A funding round led by Founders Fund, Peter Thiel’s venture capital firm.

The company’s founders, Walden Yan, Steven Hao, and Scott Wu, bring a wealth of experience in applied AI with backgrounds in companies such as Google DeepMind, Waymo, and Nuro.

Devin is to revolutionize the way code is developed, debugged, and implemented. As the first AI of its kind in history, Devin can transform a basic prompt into a fully functioning website or software program.

Devin operates autonomously utilizing advanced long-term reasoning to plan and execute complex tasks independently.

Equipped with its own shell, code editor, and web browser, Devin can tackle a wide range of tasks, including learning new technologies, building and deploying apps, debugging code, and training AI models.

Devin is not designed to replace human engineers but to complement their skills and enhance productivity.

It collaborates with human engineers, providing real-time updates, accepting feedback, and facilitating collaboration on design choices.

Devin’s efficacy is more than theoretical prowess, as evidenced by its successful completion of real jobs on platforms like Upwork.

From debugging computer vision models to compiling detailed reports, Devin tackles real-world coding tasks, further cementing its status as a game-changer in the field of software engineering.

Cognition proudly announced Devin’s debut highlighting its performance on the SWE-Bench coding benchmark, success in practical engineering interviews at leading AI companies, and completion of actual tasks on Upwork. Backed by industry leaders and funding.

The AI startup Cognition founded by Walden Yan, Steven Hao, and Scott Wu has raised $21 million in a Series A funding round led by Founders Fund, Peter Thiel’s venture capital firm.

With gold medals from the International Olympiad for Informatics and experience at leading tech companies the founding team brings expertise to the development of Devin.
