Worcestershire spinner Josh Baker tragically passed away at the young age of 20. The somber announcement came through a statement from Worcestershire, where Baker was described as a talented cricketer and also an integral part of the cricket family. The club’s chief executive Ashley Giles expressed sadness.

Baker signed his first contract with Worcestershire at just 17 in 2021, he quickly rose through the ranks showcasing his prowess as a left-arm spinner. With 43 wickets in 22 first-class matches and 27 wickets in 25 white-ball appearances.
England’s white-ball captain, Jos Buttler, and England women’s coach, Jon Lewis, were among the first to offer their condolences.
Shaftab Khalid, Baker’s former coach, told about his journey from a promising teenager to a professional cricketer.
