Lamborghini Temerario: A 907bhp Hybrid Beast that Replaces the Huracan V10

One of the features of the Lamborghini Temerario is its capability to operate as a front-wheel-drive vehicle in electric-only mode. This is a first for Lamborghini, a brand known for its all-wheel-drive supercars.

The Lamborghini Temerario is equipped with three electric motors, two on the front wheels and one positioned between the engine and the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The motor at the back is directly connected to the crankshaft.

There’s no clutch between the engine and the rear motor, so when the car operates in EV mode, only the front wheels are powered. Although Lamborghini hasn’t disclosed the exact EV range, the Temerario’s 3.8-kWh battery suggests that the electric-only driving range will be limited.

At the core of the Lamborghini Temerario is an all-new twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine. This engine is fresh developed from the ground up and is not borrowed from any other models within the Volkswagen Group, which Lamborghini is a part of.

The V8 engine alone produces a 789bhp with peak power achieved between 9,000rpm and 9,750rpm and a redline set at an incredible 10,000rpm. This makes it one of the highest-revving turbocharged V8 engines in a production car.

Complementing the V8 are three electric motors, one located between the engine and the gearbox and two on the front axle.

These motors are powered by a 3.8kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined with the V8, the total output reaches a monstrous 907bhp and 590lb ft of torque.

It can sprint from 0 to 62mph in just 2.7 seconds and has a top speed exceeding 211mph.

Lamborghini’s engineers have designed the V-8 engine in the Temerario to be capable of withstanding high RPMs with the redline set at 10,000 RPM.

The valvetrain is engineered to be safe up to 11,000 RPM. Instead of using conventional hydraulic bucket-and-shim tappets, Lamborghini opted for roller fingers essentially metal rocker arms that close the valves.

This advanced technology is commonly found in sport bikes and race cars.

The Lamborghini Temerario offers more interior space than previous models allowing drivers up to 6 feet 6 inches tall to comfortably sit in the car with a helmet on.

The hybrid powertrain of the Lamborghini Temerario combines the 789-horsepower V-8 engine with three electric motors to deliver a total output of 907 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque.

Lamborghini claims that the Temerario can sprint from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 213 mph.

The 3.8-kWh lithium-ion battery is centrally located in the car’s tunnel to optimize weight distribution and lower the center of gravity.

The battery can be recharged in just 30 minutes using an onboard charger with a maximum capacity of 7 kW. Alternatively the battery can be recharged through regenerative braking from the front wheels or directly by the combustion engine.

The Lamborghini Temerario features a design that is both aerodynamic and aggressive. The car’s wedge shape, sharp lines and hexagonal motifs are recognizable.

The front of the car is equipped with daytime running lights integrated into the lower bumper, which also houses an air tunnel that directs cool air to the brakes.

Large air intakes ahead of the rear wheels feed the twin-turbo engine and additional ducts on the car’s shoulder line and behind the side windows enhance cooling and aerodynamics.

At the rear, a fixed spoiler, wide diffuser and hexagonal taillights contribute to the Temerario’s menacing stance and high-speed stability.

The interior is more spacious than previous Lamborghini models with over an inch of extra headroom and legroom.

The seats are 18-way adjustable, heated and ventilated. The use of high-quality materials like carbon fiber, leather and suede further enhances the luxury feel of the cabin.

Lamborghini has also increased the practicality of the Temerario by including a front trunk with a capacity of approximately four cubic feet.

The Lamborghini Temerario is equipped with the infotainment and technology features to enhance the driving experience.

The driver’s information is displayed on a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, while the passenger has access to a 9.1-inch screen that shows driving details and vehicle functions.

The central dashboard houses an 8.4-inch touchscreen that controls the main entertainment and navigation systems.

The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally the Temerario can be fitted with three cameras that enable a built-in dash cam and a Memories Recorder for capturing up to two minutes of driving footage.

The cameras also support Lamborghini Telemetry 2.0, an onboard app that provides data and analysis for track driving with over 150 circuits programmed in.

Customers can choose from over 400 colors and special liveries, as well as three different wheel designs 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear.

The wheels are available with Bridgestone Potenza Sport or Potenza Race tires. For those looking to reduce weight, Lamborghini offers the Alleggerita package, which shaves off up to 55 pounds.

This lightweight package includes carbon-fiber-reinforced-plastic components such as the front splitter, side skirts and rear lid.

The Alleggerita package features redesigned rear spoiler and lightweight windows.

The Lamborghini Temerario offers a range of driving modes to suit different conditions and preferences. These include Città, Strada, Sport, Corsa and Corsa Plus, each adjusting the car’s dynamics for specific driving scenarios.

The Lamborghini Temerario provides three settings for the electric motors, Recharge, Hybrid and Performance, allowing drivers to manage the balance between power and efficiency.

While Lamborghini has yet to announce the exact pricing details for the Temerario, it is expected to start around $290,000. The supercar is anticipated to go on sale by early 2025.
