Coca-Cola has issued a recall for nearly 2,000 cases of beverages, including Diet Coke, Sprite, and Fanta Orange, distributed in three Southern states Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. The recall was initiated by United Packers, LLC, based in Mobile, Alabama, on November 6, 2023, following concerns about contamination with foreign material found in the cans.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revealed the recall, encompassing 1,557 cases of 12-ounce cans of Sprite, 417 cases of Diet Coke, and 14 cases of Fanta Orange.
The affected products were limited to 12-packs of 12-ounce aluminum cans, and consumers are urged to check UPC numbers and best by dates to identify the recalled items.
The recall, categorized as a Class II recall by the FDA, implies that while the use or exposure to the affected products may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, the probability of serious consequences is remote.
The FDA did not immediately specify the nature of the foreign material and any risks associated with its consumption.
Coca-Cola responded to the recall, assuring the public that the recall is complete, and there are no more affected cans on the market.
The company stated that the recall involved a limited quantity of Fanta Orange, Sprite, and Diet Coke, distributed in 48 stores in specific markets, including Valparaiso, FL; Robertsdale and Mobile, AL; Gulfport and Ocean Springs, MS. Coca-Cola Bottling UNITED, the responsible entity, addressed that consumer safety is their top priority.

The affected soda packs are all 12-packs of 12-ounce aluminum cans. The recall includes Diet Coke with lot numbers JAN2924MBD3 and UPC 49000028911, Fanta Orange with lot numbers UL2924MBD3 and UPC 49000030730, and Sprite with lot numbers JUL2924MBD3 and UPC 49000028928.
The best by date for the recalled products is January 29, 2024, for Diet Coke and July 29, 2024, for Fanta Orange and Sprite.
Distribution of the affected cases was concentrated in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. Coca-Cola Co. has assured consumers that the recall is complete, and there are no more affected cans on the market.
