A gas explosion happened at a restaurant in the town of Yanjiao, located in Sanhe county, Hebei province, less than 50 kilometers east of Beijing, China. The explosion suspected to have been triggered by a gas leak, occurred around 7:55 am local time on Wednesday. The incident has claimed the lives of two individuals and resulted in injuries to at least 26 others according to state media reports.

The blast suspected to have been triggered by a gas leak, occurred around 7:55 am local time at a fried chicken restaurant in Yanjiao township situated on the outskirts of Beijing.

Two individuals have lost their lives, while 26 others sustained injuries in the explosion. The injured victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention.

Rescue operations commenced following the explosion, with 36 emergency vehicles and 154 personnel dispatched to the scene by the local Langfang fire department.

The force of the explosion caused damage to the restaurant, nearby buildings, and parked vehicles. Videos circulating on social media platforms showed the scenes of destruction, with shattered glass, debris-strewn streets, and vehicles engulfed in flames.

Witnesses recounted hearing a deafening blast followed by plumes of smoke billowing into the air. Shocked residents described the chaos, with one individual recalling the force of the explosion.

Authorities confirmed that the explosion originated from a suspected gas leak at the ground floor restaurant.

The incident made a temporary suspension of gas services in the surrounding area as a precautionary measure.

The blast claimed the lives of two individuals and left at least 26 others injured, according to reports from state media. Among the injured, 14 individuals were admitted to the hospital, with two sustaining severe injuries.

Local authorities mobilized rescue efforts, dispatching 36 emergency vehicles and deploying 154 personnel to the scene to manage the explosion.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames, while medical personnel tended to the injured and facilitated their transportation to nearby hospitals for treatment.

While an official investigation is ongoing, authorities have pointed to a gas leak as the likely cause of the explosion.

The blast originated from a fried chicken shop located in an old residential area of Yanjiao township. Eyewitnesses recounted hearing a deafening blast followed by clouds of smoke billowing into the sky.

Businesses in the vicinity including seven shops at the explosion site suffered damages and had to suspend operations temporarily.

Regional gas suppliers such as Taida Gas took measures by suspending services in surrounding areas as a precautionary measure to prevent secondary incidents.
