The Audi A6 E-Tron Sportback is the brand’s most aerodynamic car to date, a drag coefficient of just 0.21. This is achieved through design elements including a flush grille, shuttered ducts and air curtains that guide airflow around the vehicle.

The Avant wagon variant, while slightly less aerodynamic with a drag coefficient of 0.24 and still maintains efficiency with its carefully sculpted body.

Both the A6 Sportback E-Tron and its Avant sibling are built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, which is shared with the new Audi Q6 E-Tron and Porsche Macan.

The A6 Sportback E-Tron has a drag coefficient of 0.21. This is achieved through a sleek design featuring split headlights, flush door handles and air curtains that optimize airflow.

The A6 E-Tron retains much of the aesthetic appeal of its concept version showcased at Auto Shanghai in 2021. The front features slim headlights with adaptive matrix LEDs (available outside the US due to regulatory constraints) and a grille with a fish-scale texture.

The rear lights use digital OLED panels that can function as a safety communication display.

Audi offers the A6 E-Tron in two body styles, the Sportback and the Avant station wagon. Both variants share similar design philosophies highlighting sleek lines and a modern, luxurious appearance.

The base A6 E-Tron comes with a 270 kW (362 HP) rear-wheel drive system, achieving 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph.

The mid-range Quattro model includes an additional front motor, delivering a combined output of 422 HP. This model sprints from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds while maintaining a top speed of 130 mph.

The high-performance S6 E-Tron is equipped with a dual-motor system producing 496 HP, which can be boosted to 543 HP with launch control. This allows it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 149 mph.

The A6 E-Tron’s 800-volt architecture enables fast charging at up to 270kW allowing the vehicle to charge from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes.

This fast charging capability is an advantage for long-distance travel, as it can add nearly 193 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

All A6 E-Tron models come with a 100 kWh battery (94.4 kWh usable capacity). Thanks to the 800V architecture, the A6 E-Tron supports DC fast charging up to 270 kW. It can charge from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes adding nearly 193 miles of range in 10 minutes.

A6 Sportback E-Tron rear-wheel drive model is expected to achieve a WLTP range of up to 470 miles. The Avant version is slightly less aerodynamic and it is estimated to cover up to 447 miles on a single charge.

The performance-oriented S6 Sportback and Avant achieve WLTP ranges of 416 miles and 398 miles respectively. While the official EPA ratings are not yet available, it’s anticipated that the US-spec models will have slightly lower range figures compared to the WLTP estimates.

However even the lower estimates are expected to be competitive with rivals like the BMW i5, Mercedes EQE and Tesla Model S.

The cabin is equipped with a 14.5-inch central infotainment display, an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display.

The infotainment system runs on Android Automotive OS, providing access to apps like YouTube and Spotify through the integrated Audi Application Store. The system also supports over-the-air updates for software enhancements.

Audi introduces a new virtual assistant with access to ChatGPT for natural language interaction allowing users to engage with the vehicle and access general knowledge.

The interior highlights comfort with premium materials and a home-like ambience. Audi’s attention to detail is evident in the design elements such as softwraps that span the entire width of the cabin.

The Audi A6 E-Tron is set to launch in Europe in September 2024 with pricing starting at €75,600 for the A6 Sportback and €77,250 for the Avant. The S6 Sportback and Avant models are priced at €99,500 and €101,150 respectively.

While the exact US launch date and pricing are yet to be announced, the A6 E-Tron is expected to debut soon after the European release.

The initial lineup for the US will include the A6 RWD Sportback, A6 AWD (Quattro) Sportback and the S6 Sportback.
