Over 600 Hajj Pilgrims Die in Mecca Amid Extreme Heat
This year’s Hajj was conducted in temperatures exceeding 50°C (122°F), with a peak of 51.8°C recorded at the Grand Mosque in Mecca on June 17, 2024. The extreme heat was a major contributing factor to the deaths of at least 600 pilgrims, with over 320 of them being Egyptian nationals.
