Sean Combs is Accused of Rape, Sex Trafficking by Singer Cassie

Sean Combs is facing accusations of sexual assault, rape, and physical abuse by his ex-girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, whose legal name is Casandra Ventura. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, a disturbing picture of a decade of abuse and violence endured by Cassie.

Cassie alleges that the abuse began in 2005 when she was just 19 years old, and Sean Combs, then 37, lured her into a professional and romantic relationship after signing her to his record label, Bad Boy Records.

The lawsuit claims that Sean Combs introduced her to a lifestyle by excessive alcohol and substance abuse, controlling her life and career.

It further alleges that he “plied the vulnerable Ms. Ventura with drugs and alcohol, causing her to fall into dangerous addictions that controlled her life.”

The descriptions in the lawsuit outline instances of rape, physical assault, and emotional abuse that Cassie claims to have endured over the ten-year period.

The document labels Sean Combs as a “serial domestic abuser” who regularly beat and kicked Cassie, leaving her with black eyes, bruises, and blood.

The lawsuit claims that Sean Combs forced Cassie into engaging in sex acts with male sex workers while he filmed the encounters.

The legal action also includes allegations that Sean Combs blew up a car owned by rapper Kid Cudi out of jealousy, as Cassie was in a relationship with the rapper. Sean Combs denies the allegations, that Cassie is attempting to extort him.

His lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, called the claims “offensive and outrageous” and revealed that Cassie had demanded $30 million under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship. Brafman rejected this demand as “blatant blackmail.”

Brafman further stated, “Ms. Ventura has now resorted to filing a lawsuit riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combs’ reputation and seeking a payday.”

According to Sean Combs’ legal team, Cassie had initially threatened to write a damaging book about their relationship, a threat that was rejected by Sean Combs.

Cassie’s lawyer, Doug Wigdor, countered the claim, stating that Sean Combs had offered her a payment of “eight figures to silence her and prevent the filing of this lawsuit.”

He asserted that Cassie rejected these efforts and decided to speak up “on behalf of all women who suffer in silence.”

The lawsuit alleges that the abusive incidents were witnessed by Sean Combs’ staff and employees of Bad Boy Entertainment, yet no one dared to speak up against him. This paints a picture of a culture of fear and silence surrounding the influential mogul.

Additionally, the lawsuit claims that the music mogul told Cassie about his plan to “blow up” Kid Cudi’s car out of jealousy. Kid Cudi’s spokesperson has verified this account, adding credibility to Cassie’s claims.

These allegations cannot be overstated, especially considering Sean Combs’ stature in the music and entertainment industry.

As the founder of Bad Boy Records in the early 1990s, Combs played a role in shaping the hip-hop music. Beyond music, he has ventured into fashion with his clothing label, Sean John, and the development of the Ciroc vodka brand. His net worth, estimated at $1 billion, which underlines his influence.

The #MeToo movement has brought awareness to issues of sexual assault and abuse, and allegations against figures in the entertainment industry have beenscrutinized. If these allegations against Sean Combs are proven true, it could have consequences to his career.

Cassie’s decision to come forward and file the lawsuit amid the expiration of New York’s Adult Survivors Act demonstrates her commitment to seeking justice and breaking the silence around the trauma she claims to have endured.

The lawsuit suggests that in return for providing avenues for success in her career, Sean Combs demanded obedience, loyalty, and silence.

This is about the exploitation of artists within the music industry and the abuse of influence by those in positions of authority.
