PF commissioned a national study and found that 61% of teens face mental health struggles, and 93% of teens appreciate the positive impact that fitness can have on their lives.

Through this program, teens can stay active and enjoy the gym throughout the summer vacation. Planet Fitness is also incentivizing teens with a $10,000 prize.

Ten schools and teens who sign up have a chance to win $10,000 each for individual academic scholarships through a TikTok video contest.

The gym will keep track of the number of sign-ups from schools in the US and Canada, and the top 10 school sign-ups will receive a $10,000 grant, with a further $10,000 each given to ten lucky students who win the TikTok challenge.

As summer approaches, Planet Fitness is once again offering free gym access to teenagers aged 14-19 through its High School Summer Pass™ program.

Running from May 15 to August 31, the program aims to encourage physical activity among teens during the summer break while also supporting Mental Health Awareness Month in May.

The program has been running for three years now, and according to the gym franchise operator and franchisor, it enrolled 3.5 million high schoolers last year.

Teenagers today face a range of challenges that can impact their mental and physical well-being. The pressures of school, social media, and the pandemic can all contribute to feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression.

Research conducted by Planet Fitness found that 61% of teenagers face mental health struggles. Furthermore, a 2021 CDC survey found that 29% of high schoolers suffer from poor mental health, a number that has steadily increased since 2011.

Physical health is also a concern for teenagers. The CDC reports that 22% of 12 to 19-year-olds in the United States are obese, and childhood obesity is a serious health problem.

Regular exercise can help reduce the risk of obesity and other health problems while improving overall physical health and well-being.

Planet Fitness is offering free gym access to teens aged 14-19 through its High School Summer Pass™ program. The program runs from May 15 to August 31 and is open to all eligible teens in the U.S. and Canada.

Participants can sign up online through the Planet Fitness website and receive a digital club pass on May 15 via the Free PF app. The app also includes online workout plans and allows users to track their check-ins at Planet Fitness gyms.

In addition to free gym access, Planet Fitness is offering incentives to encourage teens to participate in the program.

Ten schools with the highest number of sign-ups will receive a $10,000 grant each, while ten lucky teens will win $10,000 academic scholarships through a TikTok video contest. To enter the contest, participants must share an online clip describing their High School Summer Pass™ experience.

The program is intended to provide a safe and judgment-free environment for teens to engage in physical activity during the summer break.

The gym franchise operator and franchisor operates over 2,400 gyms across the U.S. and Canada, providing ample opportunities for teens to find a nearby gym and participate in the program.

To sign up for the High School Summer Pass program, teenagers or their parents/guardians can pre-register on the Planet Fitness website before May 15.

After registering, they can download the Free PF app to receive their digital club pass on May 15 and begin using the gym facilities.

Research has shown that physical activity can have numerous mental health benefits for teens. Regular exercise can help alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress, and improve overall mood and emotional well-being.

Physical activity can also improve self-esteem and body image, which can be critical for teenagers who may struggle with self-confidence during this transitional period in their lives.

Moreover, physical activity has been linked to improved cognitive function, including better memory and concentration, which can benefit academic performance.

Engaging in regular exercise can also help teens establish healthy habits that can carry into adulthood, promoting lifelong physical and mental health.

To encourage participation in the High School Summer Pass program, Planet Fitness has also launched a TikTok video contest.

Teenagers can submit videos of themselves working out at Planet Fitness using the hashtag #PFHighSchoolChallenge.

The top 50 videos will be selected, and those contestants will be entered into a random drawing for a chance to win a $500 scholarship.

In addition to the TikTok contest, Planet Fitness is also offering academic scholarships to participating high school students.

The scholarships are worth $5,000 each and will be awarded to 51 students in the United States and Canada who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement. The application process is open from May 15 to June 30, and winners will be announced in August.
