Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), released a statement praising Klopp’s accomplishments and acknowledging the impact he has had on the club.

FSG’s president, Mike Gordon, stated, “His many accomplishments will never be taken for granted. To appropriate an adage synonymous with another Liverpool managerial great, Jürgen Klopp ‘made the people happy’ and we have total confidence he will continue to do so until his eventual departure.”

The timing of Klopp’s announcement, with Liverpool competing on multiple fronts, is a complex situation to the club.

The club has not disclosed any replacements, but former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, currently managing Bayer Leverkusen, is rumored to be under consideration.
