Pakistan Admits Military Involvement in 1999 Kargil War After 25 Years

Pakistan has officially acknowledged its direct military involvement in the 1999 Kargil War with India. For over two decades, Pakistan denied the participation of its regular troops, instead attributing the conflict to Mujahideen or Kashmiri freedom fighters. This revelation was made by Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir during a Defence Day event in 2024.

Boko Haram Militants Attack Nigerian Village, Over 100 Dead

The attack occurred on Sunday, September 3, 2024 in Yobe state, Nigeria. Around 150 suspected Boko Haram militants equipped with rifles and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) were involved in the attack. They arrived on more than 50 motorcycles. Initial reports indicated at least 80 deaths, but reports suggest the toll could be higher with some estimates exceeding 100.

Jailbreak Attempt in DRC’s Largest Prison: 129 Dead and 59 Injured

The attempted escape occurred on September 2, 2024, at Makala Central Prison located in Kinshasa, the capital of the DRC. According to Interior Minister Shabani Lukoo, 129 inmates lost their lives during the escape attempt. Alongside the fatalities, 59 inmates were reported injured. The deaths were a combination of gunfire, suffocation and injuries.

Protests Erupt in Israel Demanding Gaza Ceasefire

The protests were sparked by the discovery of six dead hostages in Gaza, who had been held by Hamas for nearly 11 months. The Israeli Defense Forces reported that these hostages were killed just before Israeli troops could reach them. The deceased were identified as Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi and Master Sgt Ori Danino. Three of them including an Israeli American were scheduled to be released in an earlier proposed ceasefire deal.
