ACCC Sues Coles and Woolworths Over Illusory Discounts
The ACCC led by chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb has accused Coles and Woolworths of breaching Australian consumer law by offering false discounts on a range of popular grocery items. The regulator claims that both supermarkets inflated the prices of certain products temporarily, only to reduce them later and present them as part of promotional offers such as Prices Dropped or Down Down.
