According to Spain nursing home fire news, a fire surrounded a retirement home in Villafranca de Ebro during the early hours of Friday, November 15. The fire killed at least 10 elderly residents and left two others in critical condition.

The fire broke out around 5:00 AM in the Jardines de Villafranca nursing home. Emergency services responded, but the dense smoke proved deadly. Two individuals remain in critical condition and several others received treatment for smoke inhalation.
The nursing home housed 82 residents primarily focusing on care for individuals with dementia and mental health issues.
It originally opened 16 years ago as a retirement facility but later specialized in catering to residents requiring mental health support.

Mayor Volga Ramirez recounted the attempts by her husband and others to rescue individuals from the smoke-filled facility.
