According to the latest Yamaha news, the YZF-R9 is powered by Yamaha’s 890cc CP3 inline-three engine derived from the MT-09. The YZF-R9 features unique ECU settings and taller gearing (16/45 compared to the MT-09’s 16/43).

While official power output for the YZF-R9 hasn’t been disclosed, we can expect similar numbers to the XSR900, which delivers around 106 hp at 9,970 rpm and 63.5 lb.-ft. of torque at 7,030 rpm.

The tuning for the YZF-R9 is expected to make it more refined for road and track use. Yamaha has optimized the R9’s engine for smoother delivery on twisty roads and tracks.

The taller gearing contributes to a more linear powerband, reducing the hooligan character seen in the MT-09.

The 2025 Yamaha YZF-R9 comes with an all-new aluminum frame specifically designed for the model. This is Yamaha’s lightest aluminum frame ever on a supersport bike, tipping the scales at just 9.7 kg.

The overall weight of the R9 is a claimed 430 pounds including fluids, which positions it as a lightweight, agile machine. The bike features a suspension system with KYB’s 43mm Separate-Damping Front Fork (SDF).

The left leg manages adjustable high- and low-speed compression damping, while the right leg is for rebound damping. The fully adjustable KYB rear shock comes with remote preload adjustment.

This suspension setup shows Yamaha’s intention of making the YZF-R9 suitable for both street and track use. The wheelbase measures 55.9 inches, while the rake and trail come in at 22.3 degrees and 3.7 inches respectively.

According to the latest Yamaha news, Yamaha claims that the YZF-R9 is its most aerodynamic sportbike to date. The bike features MotoGP-inspired winglets designed to provide real downforce at high speeds.

This is particularly useful for keeping the front wheel down under heavy acceleration on the track. The 2025 Yamaha YZF-R9 boasts a sleek, aggressive design, which stands out from other models in the R-series.

It has a bold front fairing, LED projector headlights and sharp body lines that show Yamaha’s attention to aerodynamics.

The YZF-R9 offers a more relaxed rider triangle compared to the R1 with a slightly larger footpeg-to-seat distance. This provides better comfort for long rides while still maintaining a sportbike posture.

Clip-on handlebars are mounted below the top triple clamp, maintaining a committed riding position for track use. The seat height is set at 32.7 inches. The overall dimensions of the YZF-R9 are larger than the R7, contributing to a more big-bike feel.

The 2025 Yamaha YZF-R9 comes equipped with a wide range of rider aids. These include a four-level Power Delivery Mode (PWR), nine-level lean-sensitive Traction Control System (TCS), three-level Lift Control System (LIF), three-level Slide Control System (SCS), two-level Engine Brake Management (EBM) and a lean-sensitive Brake Control System (BC).

These features ensure that the R9 can handle both street and track conditions with precision. The bike is also equipped with Launch Control (LC) and a bidirectional quickshifter.

According to the latest Yamaha news, the YZF-R9 features four pre-built ride modes Sport, Street, Rain and Track along with two customizable modes. This allows riders to adjust settings for different types of riding, whether they’re commuting or pushing the bike to its limits on a racetrack.

According to the latest Yamaha news, the 2025 Yamaha YZF-R9 is equipped with Brembo Stylema front brake calipers. These are paired with 320mm discs up front and a 220mm disc at the rear. The steel-braided brake lines ensure consistent, fade-free performance, crucial for high-speed track sessions.

The bike rides on 17-inch Spin-forged aluminum wheels, wrapped in Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tires. These tires provide excellent grip, whether on city streets or racetracks.

The YZF-R9 features a 5-inch TFT display that allows riders to access a wide range of information including ride modes, performance data and rider aids.

This display can be customized with different themes and is user-friendly. The YZF-R9 also supports smartphone connectivity, enabling riders to receive call and message notifications, as well as listen to music through a Bluetooth headset.

According to the latest Yamaha news, the 2025 Yamaha YZF-R9 comes with a price tag of $12,499. It is more affordable than literbikes. Yamaha offers the YZF-R9 in three color options, Team Yamaha Blue, Matte Raven Black and Intensity White/Redline. The new R9 will be available at dealerships starting in March 2025.

The 2025 YZF-R3 is powered by a 321cc twin-cylinder engine. New R-series styling, improved ergonomics, modern LED lighting and smartphone connectivity set the 2025 YZF-R3 apart from its previous model. The R3 is available for $5,499.

Yamaha’s popular 689cc twin-cylinder CP2 engine powers the YZF-R7. The YZF-R7 remains unchanged for 2025, available for $9,199. The R7 is offered in Team Yamaha Blue and Matte Raven Black.
