TVS Motor Company has introduced the iQube electric scooter in Pune, priced at Rs. 1.11 lakh (on-road, Pune). The all-new offering arrives in Pune over a year after sales began in Bengaluru last year followed by Delhi. Pune is the third city that gets the iQube and the company has planned at least 20 more cities in the coming months. The TVS iQube competes against the Bajaj Chetak and the Ather 450X in the segment and is completely developed in-house. Bookings are now open for a token amount of Rs. 5,000.
Commenting on the launch, KN Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO – TVS Motor Company, said, “TVS Motor Company is driven by customer-centric innovation. As India moves ahead, its mobility solutions would increasingly be experience-led, and nowhere is this felt sharper than among the youth of India. Our focus on India’s ‘Green & Connected’ youth is embodied in the first of the TVS electric portfolio. TVS iQube Electric is a blend of an advanced electric drivetrain and the next-gen TVS SmartXonnect platform. After a successful response in Bengaluru, Delhi, and Chennai, we are thrilled to bring our electric scooter to Pune and are confident to scale great heights. The TVS iQube Electric ecosystem is built around digital platforms that enable the customers to have the convenience of booking and paying for the vehicle online, along with getting assured contactless deliveries.”
The TVS iQube takes on the 125 cc equivalent scooters in terms of power and performance. With the latest FAME II subsidy revision, the delta between a 125 cc scooter and the iQube has reduced further. The electric offering draws power from the 4.4 kW electric motor that develops 140 Nm of peak torque. The top speed is rated at 78 kmph. The scooter houses a 2.25 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that promises a range of 75 km on a single charge.
The TVS iQube gets a conventional design with the mono LED headlamp that makes it stand out over rivals. It is offered in only the white paint scheme. The e-scooter gets a larger TFT screen with SmartXonnect Bluetooth feature that brings geo-fencing, remote battery charge status, navigation assist, last park location, and incoming call alerts/SMS alerts. The scooter gets Q-park Assist that essentially helps in parking the scooter, while other functions include economy and power mode, regenerative braking, as well as day and night display.
