EU Reduces Planned Tariffs on Tesla’s China-Made Electric Vehicles to 9%

The European Union (EU) has made a move in the trade tensions with China by lowering its proposed tariffs on Tesla’s electric vehicles (EVs) manufactured in China. The EU had considered imposing a 20.8% tariff on Tesla’s Chinese-made cars, but after a reassessment based on the specific subsidies Tesla received, the EU has now reduced this rate to 9%.

On September 15, 2023, TikTok, the Chinese-owned short-video platform, ended up confronting a huge monetary mishap as it was fined a staggering €345 million (equivalent to $370 million) by the Data Protection Commissioner (DPC) in Ireland for breaching privacy laws related to the processing of children’s personal data within the European Union.
