Shillong- Strict containment measures have been imposed by the government of Meghalaya on Wednesday which will come into effect from May 1 at 5:00 am till May 10 at 5:00 am in the town of Tura, Jowai, and Shillong. This decision was made keeping in mind the current COVID-19 pandemic situation in the state. The Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma, in a video conference with the deputy commissioners of the state, discussed the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the state and made a few decisions in regard to the same. 1. Large gathering, be it public, political, or religious is strictly prohibited with the exception of gatherings for funeral and wedding in which the attendees have to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 protocols as laid out by the state government. 2. Non-essential government employees have been encouraged to work from home. 3. A strict prohibition has been imposed on sporting activities. 4. All educational institutes to remain shut from May 1 to May 10.
