Spain Wins Euro 2024 by Defeating England 2-1

Spain won the Euro 2024 title by defeating England 2-1 in the final held in Berlin. Spain won all seven of their matches in the tournament without needing penalties. This is a record at the European Championship. They overcame every European nation that has ever won a World Cup, Italy, Germany, France and England.

Alvaro Morata, the captain lifted the Henri Delaunay trophy. Nico Williams, one of the standout performers of the tournament broke the deadlock just minutes into the second half.

His precise finish into the bottom corner came from a pass by 17-year-old Lamine Yamal. England’s Cole Palmer brought the game level with a beautifully placed left-footed shot from outside the box.

With less than five minutes remaining, Mikel Oyarzabal scored the decisive goal. His tap-in from Marc Cucurella’s perfect pass sealed the victory for Spain.

England came close to equalizing again with Declan Rice’s header saved by Simón and Marc Guehi’s follow-up blocked by Dani Olmo.

Rodri was named the Euro 2024 player of the tournament, while Lamine Yamal received the young player of the tournament award.

Yamal’s contributions included four assists and a record-breaking goal in the semifinal against France.

King Charles III gave words of support to the England team commending their effort and achievement in reaching the final.

His message encouraged the team to hold their heads high despite the loss. For England, the search for a major international trophy continues with their last victory being the World Cup in 1966.

Rodri was named the player of the tournament. Lamine Yamal, the teenage sensation was awarded the young player of the tournament.

He also had the most assists and became the youngest player to ever play at, score at, assist at and win a European Championship.

Football saw a rare moment of unity as Spain’s victory was widely hailed as deserved. Gareth Southgate admitted Spain were deserved champions.

Unlike the Spain team that dominated a decade ago with their tiki-taka style, the current squad relied heavily on wingers.

Nico Williams scored the opener, and Mikel Oyarzabal netted the late winner in the final. Yamal set up Williams’ goal. Williams and Yamal celebrated their birthdays just before the final, turning 22 and 17 respectively.

England’s boss faced criticism for negative tactics but managed to reach the final. England had Premier League’s player of the year Phil Foden, La Liga’s player of the year Jude Bellingham and Bundesliga’s top scorer Harry Kane.

Despite having players from less prominent clubs and only one player each from Real Madrid and Barcelona in the starting XI.

Luis de la Fuente’s Role, the 63-year-old manager led Spain to victory, a senior European Championship to his previous U19 and U21 titles.

Many current senior team members played under de la Fuente at junior levels.

Spain received €8 million for winning, while the runners-up England received €5 million. Spain could earn up to €28.25 million with players and the manager receiving bonuses.
