Skoda Kushaq: All You Need To Know

The new Skoda Kushaq has gone on sale in India with prices starting at Rs. 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base Active MT variant. The range-topping Style DSG variant is priced at Rs. 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It is the company’s first model to be introduced under the India 2.0 project. The deliveries for the SUV will begin from July 12, 2021, which will be limited only to 1.0-litre TSI petrol variants. Customers will have to wait for the deliveries of the 1.5-litre variants till August. Here’s all you need to know about the newly launched Kushaq SUV.

  1. The Skoda Kushaq is the first SUV to be built on the company’s new MQB-A0 IN platform. It’s a localised version of the VW Group’s versatile MQB architecture, which has been specifically developed for the Indian market. The same platform will also be used on Volkswagen’s upcoming Taigun compact SUV.
     
  2. Visually, the Kushaq remains very identical to the concept version that was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. It gets a similar chrome-accented butterfly grille flanked by a set of LED headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, separate trapezoidal LED fog lamps, silver roof rails, shark fin antenna, LED taillamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, and much more.
  3. Dimension-wise, the Skoda Kushaq measures 4,225 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width and 1,612 mm in height. The SUV come with a wheelbase of 2,651 mm while the ground clearance stands at 188 mm.
  4.  The Skoda Kushaq SUV is offered in a total of seven variants across three trims – Active, Ambition and Style. The SUV also gets five colour options – Honey Orange, Tornado Red, Candy White, Brilliant Silver, and Carbon Steel.
  5. The interior of the Kushaq is well-balanced and neatly designed with a dual-tone paint scheme. Skoda has also used piano black finish and brushed chrome in a minimalist manner, enhancing the overall appeal of the cabin. The SUV offers plenty of space for five occupants, and it comes with a boot capacity of 385-litre.
  6.  The Kushaq comes loaded with features such as a 10-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless MirrorLink, ventilated front seats, AC vents at the rear, MID instrument console, cruise control, ambient lighting, a seven-speaker music system, two-spoke steering wheel, auto-dimming IRVMs, steering-mounted controls, wireless charger, My Skoda Connect, touch-controlled climatronic with Air care function, and more.
  7. As for safety, the SUV comes equipped with a range of features such as dual airbags, ESC, three-point seatbelt for all passengers, ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS, EBD, Hill-Hold Control, tyre pressure monitoring, EDS with XDS & XDS + and more.
  8. The Skoda Kushaq is offered with a choice of two petrol engines – a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI. While the former makes 113 bhp and 175 Nm of torque, the 1.5-litre engine offers 148 bhp on offer and 250 Nm of torque.
  9.  Both the engines get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The 1.0-litre TSI also gets an optional 6-speed torque converter, while the 1.5-litre TSI gets an optional 7-speed DSG unit.
