Private hospitals in Maharashtra to be roped in for Covid-19 vaccination drive, says Uddhav Thackeray

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday said that private hospitals in the state will be roped in for Covid-19 vaccination drive of the general public in the coming days.

He stated that efforts were being made to get neccessary approvals from the Centre.

“The state government urged the central government to allow private hospitals, which have the capacity, to carry out Covid-19 vaccination drive without limiting the number of vaccination centres. Accordingly, 29 hospitals were approved in Mumbai and similar arrangements will be made in the state,” he said.

At a time when the opposition parties have been mounting pressure on the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government on various fronts, Thackeray appealled to all the political parties to forget differences, put aside allegations and work together for the prosperity of the state.

The Chief Minister made the appeal while replying to the discussion on the Governor’s address in the legislative assembly. This assumes significance as the BJP has alleged that the state government failed in its duties during the pandemic and there was corruption at various levels.
