Sony’s State of Play in September 2024 delivered exciting updates for the PlayStation community. The showcase featured various game announcements, new trailers, remastered classics and much more. This event was with news on upcoming PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 titles.
Ghost of Tsushima 2 Officially Announced as Ghost of Yotei
The sequel to the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima was revealed officially titled Ghost of Yotei. This new installment introduces a new character named Atsu, which set in the year 1603. The story unfolds in the lands surrounding Mount Yotei filled with sprawling grasslands and snowy tundras. It is expected to release in 2025 exclusively for the PS5.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
A remaster of the original Horizon Zero Dawn was confirmed for the PS5. It will launch on October 31, 2024. With enhanced visuals for the PS5. Ten hours of re-recorded dialogue. Owners of the PS4 version can upgrade for just $9.99.
Monster Hunter Wilds Release Date Revealed
Monster Hunter Wilds is the latest game in the Monster Hunter series. The game is set to release on February 28, 2025. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The event showcased some of the massive monsters players will face in the game.
Astro Bot DLC Announced
Astro Bot is receiving new downloadable content that includes, Five new online speedrun levels. Ten new bots to rescue including some VIP Bots from Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2. The DLC is set to arrive in Fall 2024.
The Midnight Walk Announced
This upcoming title from the creators of Lost in Random features a unique claymation visual style with a dark and aesthetic reminiscent of Tim Burton’s works. It will be available on both platforms, although no release date has been announced.
Hell Is Us Gameplay Trailer
A new trailer showcased Hell Is Us, a horror action-adventure title with sword combat and a drone companion. Coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, although no specific release date was mentioned.
Palworld Is Out on PS5 Now
Palworld, the Pokémon-like game with a unique twist is now available on PS5. The game has faced legal challenges with Nintendo, but its PlayStation release went ahead regardless.
Metro Awakening VR
Metro Awakening is a new virtual reality game in the Metro series. It will be available for PS VR2 on November 7, 2024.
ArcheAge Chronicles Release Date
ArcheAge Chronicles is set in a medieval world with soulslike gameplay and will be released in 2025 for PS5. The trailer teased massive, dangerous bosses and the lore-rich land of Auroria.
Lunar Remastered Collection
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete are being remastered for PS5 with enhanced visuals. The remastered collection will launch in Spring 2025.
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge Radical Reptiles DLC
Shredder’s Revenge is out now and available for free. It features a remixed soundtrack and new characters like Mona Lisa and Mondo Gecko.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 will be released as remastered versions with upgraded visuals. The remastered games will arrive on December 10, 2024, the 25th anniversary of the original titles. They will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded
A PS VR2 version of Hitman 3 titled Reloaded is coming in December 2024. It will feature dual-wielding weapons and a variety of hand gestures for a more immersive experience.

Fantasia Neo Dimension
Created by veterans of Final Fantasy, Fantasia Neo Dimension will be released on PS5 on December 5, 2024. Originally an Apple Arcade game, it has been expanded for console release.
Keanu Reeves in Sonic x Shadow Generations DLC
Keanu Reeves will lend his voice to Sonic x Shadow Generations, a crossover DLC for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The DLC is set to arrive before the theatrical release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 later this year.
LEGO Horizon Adventures
A LEGO-themed adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn was announced, titled LEGO Horizon Adventures. The game will release on November 14, 2024, and pre-orders will start on October 3.
Towers of Aghasba Early Access
Towers of Aghasba, a fantasy city-building game will enter early access in November 2024. The gameplay focuses on maintaining harmony between the environment and civilization growth.
Fear the Spotlight
Blumhouse is bringing a PS1-inspired horror game, Fear the Spotlight to PS5. It will release on October 22, 2024. The pixelated visuals and atmospheric setting give it a nostalgic feel.
Alan Wake II: Lake House Expansion
The second expansion for Alan Wake II, titled The Lake House will arrive in October 2024 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players will explore a mysterious facility located on the shores of Cauldron Lake.
New PS5 Controller Colors
Sony revealed three new DualSense controller colors, Chroma Pearl, Chroma Indigo and Chroma Teal. Available for pre-order starting in October 2024 with releases staggered through early 2025.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the latest in the hack-and-slash series and it will launch on January 17, 2025. The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
PS5 Pro Support for Multiple Games
Mark Cerny, the architect behind the PS5 Pro confirmed several upcoming games will be optimized for the PS5 Pro including Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Metal Gear Solid Delta.
PlayStation Plus Announcements
WWE 2K24, Dead Space, and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus will be available for PlayStation Plus members in October. Fan favorites Dino Crisis and Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain will be added to PlayStation Plus Premium later this year. The Last of Us Part I arrives on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium on September 26, 2024.
Fortnite LEGO Expansion
LEGO Fortnite adds a new split-screen feature allowing friends and family to play together on the same console. Releasing in October 2024.
