Pakistan captain Babar Azam urges India to stay strong amid Covid-19 2nd wave: It’s time to pray together

Pakistan captain Babar Azam urged India to stay strong amid the Covid-19 2nd wave while extending his prayers and good wishes to the Indian citizens as the nation continues to battle a steep rise in COVID-19 cases.

The novel coronavirus is still raging across India with all states and Union Territories except Andaman and Nicobar Islands reporting more fresh cases of Covid-19 than recoveries on Sunday.

Looking at the current situation in India, Azam took to his official Twitter handle to say that it was time to show solidarity and pray together as India grapples with the Covid-19 crisis. Azam said that his prayers are with India, hoping that things come under control soon.

“Prayers with the people of India in these catastrophic times. It’s time to show solidarity and pray together. I also request all the people out there to strictly follow SOPs, as it’s for our safety only. Together we can do it. #StayStrong,” Babar Azam tweeted

The coronavirus caseload and death toll hit new records for a fifth straight day as India faced a deluge of over 3.52 lakh Covid-19 cases and 2,812 deaths in a single day. Hospitals, overwhelmed by the surge in Covid-19 positive patients, said they were in crisis, with most hospitals full and running out of medical oxygen to treat critical patients.

Sunday’s figure of over 3.50 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases pushed the coronavirus caseload to over 1.73 crore. Of these Covid-19 cases, 1.95 lakh people have lost their lives due to complications arising out of the illness
