Oasis emerged as a force in the Britpop movement of the 1990s. Their anthemic tracks like Wonderwall, “Live Forever” and “Champagne Supernova” became cultural touchstones.

The band’s 1994 debut album, Definitely Maybe, soared to the top of the UK charts.

Oasis’s influence is beyond music with their style, attitude and public personas becoming emblematic of the Britpop era. Their songs were not just hits, they became anthems for a generation.

The relationship between Liam and Noel Gallagher has been as legendary as the music they created. Their public spats, both verbal and physical and became almost as famous as their songs.

In 1995, their constant bickering during an interview was infamously released as a 14-minute CD showing their contentious dynamic.

In 2009, after years of escalating tensions, Noel Gallagher announced he could no longer work with Liam leading to the band’s dissolution. The split was acrimonious and the brothers continued to exchange public insults for years.

Over time the once-bitter relationship seemed to thaw. Although no dramatic reconciliation moment has been reported both brothers gradually softened their stance leading to the reunion announcement in 2024.

On August 27, 2024 Oasis officially announced their reunion tour slated for the summer of 2025. This tour will cover major cities across Britain and Ireland with four nights planned at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The tour will kick off on July 4th at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and will include dates in Manchester, Edinburgh, Dublin and London. The final shows will be held on August 16th and 17th at Croke Park in Dublin.

While the announcement focuses on the UK and Ireland, the band has hinted at plans for performances in other continents later in the year.

The band has made it clear that there are currently no plans to enter the studio to record new material.

The setlist for the reunion shows will not be focused on their debut album, Definitely Maybe, despite the anniversary celebrations of that record.

The announcement has been met with excitement among fans who have waited years for the brothers to set aside their differences. Streams of Oasis’s back catalog surged in anticipation of the reunion.

Oasis’s music continues to resonate with newer generations as evidenced by their 21.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

The band’s legacy has endured and their influence can be seen in contemporary artists like Dua Lipa, who used the Oasis font for her album promotion.

Some speculate that financial factors such as Noel’s divorce settlement may have played a role in the decision to reunite.

The reported £20 million settlement could have provided additional motivation for a lucrative tour.

The timing of the reunion aligns with anniversaries for the band including the 30th anniversary of their sophomore album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?.

Rumors circulated that Oasis might headline Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage for a third time. The band previously headlined the festival in 1995 and 2004.

Although Glastonbury was not mentioned in the tour announcement, the possibility remains open since the band has not ruled out a festival appearance.

The band’s schedule allows for a Glastonbury performance as their first confirmed tour date is in Cardiff on July 4, 2025.

Oasis was formed in Manchester in 1991 with an original lineup that included Liam Gallagher (vocals), Noel Gallagher (lead guitar and vocals), Paul Bonehead Arthurs (guitar), Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums).

Tony McCarroll was replaced by Alan White in 1995. Bonehead and Guigsy left the band in 1999 and were replaced by Gem Archer and Andy Bell.

White left in 2004 and was succeeded by Zak Starkey followed by Chris Sharrock in 2008. It is currently unclear who will join the Gallagher brothers on tour in 2025. Fans are eagerly awaiting confirmation of whether any former members such as Bonehead will reunite with the band for the tour.
