Nigeria’s candidate set to become first woman and African to head WTO

Nigeria’s candidate for Director-General of World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is set to become the first woman and the first African to lead the trade body in its 25-year history. The US gave its formal support to the 66-year-old economist to lead the WTO. This came hours after South Korea’s trade minister, the other candidate, stepped out of the race.
