New strains of African swine fever found by Chinese scientists

New strains of African swine fever that are milder but highly transmissible have been discovered by Chinese scientists. The Harbin Veterinary Research Institute said the new strains were found during a six-month surveillance of seven Chinese provinces last year. “It brings greater difficulty to early detection and poses new challenges for the control of African swine fever,” the scientists said.
