Honda’s first electric SUV to be named as Prologue

TORRANCE: Honda revealed that its first new volume battery-electric vehicle will be named as “Prologue”.

Honda Prologue will go on sale in North America in 2024. It will aim to make the most of the preference for SUVs here and claims to be highly competitive with the functionality expected by Honda customers.

With “Prologue,” Honda signals to start a new electrified era that will lead to the company’s vision for 100% zero emission vehicle sales in North America by 2040.

Though Honda has not revealed much details, it aims to engage with prospective EV customers throughout the launch by starting with a new webpage at https://automobiles.honda.com/future-cars/prologue.

Additionally, Honda will also launch an all-electric Acura SUV in 2024. Both the models will utilize the highly flexible global EV platform. The company also plans to launch a new series of EV models in the second half of the decade based on a new e-Architecture.

Honda has entered in a partnership with General Motors to develop EV cars powered by Ultium batteries.

Dave Gardner, executive vice president of American Honda, said, “Our first volume Honda BEV will begin our transition to electrification and the name Honda Prologue signals the role it will play in leading to our zero-emission future.”

“The Prologue will provide our customers with a battery-electric SUV with the excellent functionality and packaging they’ve come to expect from Honda,” he added.
