Former President Trump Losing Support From Republicans, Poll Finds

Nearly 100 days out of office and support for former President Donald Trump among Republicans has fallen.

According to a new NBC News poll, 44% of Republicans say they support the former president more than they support the Republican Party. That is a decline from 50% and the first time since July 2019 that party supporters outnumbered Trump supporters.

Overall, 21% of adults have a “very positive” opinion of Trump, a percentage that has been on the decline since the 2020 election, when 33% of adults view Trump favorably. However, that percentage increases to nearly half, 46%, among people who report consuming conservative media, which included Fox News, Newsmax and OAN.

Just 8% of people who watch liberal media, which the poll included as MSNBC and CNN, held the same opinion of Trump.

Among people who get their news from social media, Trump receives positive reviews from 21%, and 11% of people who get their news from print, broadcast television or local news have positive views on Trump.

President Biden has a slight edge over Trump, with 29% of Americans holding very positive views of him. About the same, 27% have very negative views of him, a percentage that has been decreasing since a poll taken in late October.

Among people who consume conservative media, Biden gets poor marks from 62%. Twelve percent of people who get their news from liberal media strongly disapprove of Biden compared to 29% who get their news from social media and 27% who get their news from print, broadcast television and local news.
