Derby weekend racing without spectators

The stewards of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) have decided to hold closed-door racing over the Indian Derby weekend (Saturday and Sunday) at the Mahalaxmi racecourse. The decision was taken in view of the alarmingly rising COVID-19 positive cases in Mumbai. Only people connected with the conduct of racing, like the governing body administrators, owners of horses participating in races on the card, trainers, jockeys and members of the press will be permitted to attend. The Saturday card consists of nine races, the Sonny Brar Trophy being the feature event. Bellator, trained by S S Attaollahi and to be ridden by P Trevor, is expected to win
