Viral ‘dancing dadi’, 62-year-old Ravi Bala Sharma from Mumbai is breaking the internet with her dance moves. With over 100K (one lakh) followers on Instagram, Ravi Bala’s video have become a sensation not only among the followers but also celebs like actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, director Imtiaz Ali, and choreographer Terence Lewis.
Born in UP’s Moradabad, Ravi Bala currently resides with her son in Mumbai and often posts videos of performing on not only folk songs but also Bollywood numbers as well as bhangra.
For the uninformed, Ravi Bala worked as a music teacher in a Delhi government school for 27 years and is trained in Kathak, vocal, and Tabla since her childhood. A mother of two, Ravi Bala learned the art from her now 96-year-old father Shanti Swarup Sharma.
Speaking to Indian Express about her journey and newfound celebrity status, Ravi Bala said, “I believe that with discipline, truth, and honesty, you will achieve anything you want and no one can stop you from getting there.”
