Covid19: 6th Meghalaya Police battalion continues ‘Awareness & Behavioural Change’ campaign

The police personnel of 6th Meghalaya Police Battalion at Umran have been conducting ‘Awareness and Behavioural Change’ campaign in the surrounding villages of the battalion headquarters to combat the Covid19 pandemic.

The Commandant of 6th Meghalaya Police battalion, Lakador Syiem said, “In view of the surge in Covid19 in the state and as directed by the state police headquarters, our health and hygiene committee members started the ‘Awareness & Behavioural Change’ campaign on April 21, 2021 from Umran Niangbyrnai village.

The police officer also said as requested by the deputy commissioner, they have encouraged the people, who are above 45 years of age to avail the vaccination drive against Covid19 in the nearest health centres.

In addition to talks by the paramedical staff, audio messages, posters, pamphlets, provided by the district medial health officer (DMHO) of Ri Bhoi district were also distributed to the public.

The places covered so far by this campaign include Umran Niangbyrnai, Lumkeni, Nongdewsaw, Mardon Mawtari, Mardon Nongbah, Umksih, SOS children’s village, Lad Umsaw, Umiam, Umtasor, Kynjoin Umran, Mawiapbang, Maweitnar, Umtasor Nongjyrmie.

Villages in and around the battalion headquarters will be covered during the ‘Awareness & Behavioural Change’ campaign in the coming days, Syiem informed.
