Staring at the second wave of coronavirus with a rapidly rising number of Covid-19 cases, the Maharashtra government Saturday extended Covid-19 related restrictions in the state till April 15.
The government has already imposed a statewide night curfew that will come into effect from midnight today.
The government has also announced a complete ban on holding of all types of gatherings. This includes gatherings of political and religious nature.
As per a new notification issued by the state government, district collectors and municipal commissioners have been empowered to enforce necessary restrictions in specified local areas. These restrictions will however be limited to non-essential activities and movement of people to contain the spread of the virus.
The notification says such restrictions at local level can however only be taken after prior written approval from the state’s chief secretary.
