Leeds United’s promotion hopes remain in their own hands, though it’s becoming a much tighter race.
While it may not feel that way given their recent form, and with the standings looking increasingly precarious, Leeds still have a clear path to promotion. If they win all six of their remaining matches, they will secure a spot in the Premier League. However, Burnley now lead the charge for promotion. They came from behind to defeat Coventry on Saturday, while Leeds were held to a draw at Luton. Later that day, Sheffield United suffered a surprising loss to Oxford.
Despite Leeds’ struggles, which have seen them win only once in their last six matches, their promotion prospects aren’t completely lost. The club has gone from being on the verge of automatic promotion to possibly facing another playoff battle.
Following the draw at Luton, head coach Daniel Farke remained positive, calling the result a “good point.”
“We knew this would be a tough game,” Farke said after the match. “Let’s be honest, Luton were in the Premier League last season with a decent points tally, so it was never going to be easy.”
