The Bombay High Court will hear the case of copyright violation against Kangana Ranaut and her upcoming film, Manikarnika Returns The Legend of Didda, on July 9. Kangana Ranaut had earlier challenged the Bombay High Court regarding the copyright violation case after the author of the book Didda: The Warrior Queen of Kashmir, Ashish Kaul, moved the court. Earlier this year, the actress had announced on social media that her production house will be making this film which is a sequel to her 2019 film Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi.
KANGANA RANAUT’S COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT CASE TO BE HEARD ON JULY 9
The author of the book titled Didda: The Warrior Queen of Kashmir, Ashish Kaul, had moved the court alleging copyright infringement. Just a few days ago, Kangana Ranaut had filed a petition with the Bombay High Court challenging this copyright infringement case. Her lawyer, Rizwan Siddiqui, had argued that the FIR is based on a false case and that there was nothing that could lead to a copyright infringement.
Ashish Kaul’s lawyer, Amani Khan, told India Today that the copyright violation case is to be heard in Bombay High Court on July 9 now. He said, “We have to submit all our documents in court by July 7 so that the case can be heard on July 9.”
On behalf of Ashish Kaul, both his lawyers, Amani Khan and Yogita Joshi, will be present in court. Meanwhile, Rizwan Siddiqui will be present on behalf of Kangana.
Kangana Ranaut is in the middle of a criminal defamation case filed by Javed Akhtar. He had claimed that Kangana made defamatory comments against him on a television interview that damaged his reputation.
