Assam: ULFA-I leader Jibon Moran brought to Dibrugarh PS for interrogation

Top ULFA-I leader Jibon Moran on Thursday brought to Dibrugarh police station in upper Assam from Army camp in Arunachal Pradesh.

Dibrugarh SP said, “We have examined his health in Dibrugarh hospital and done his Covid-19 test. His health condition is good”.

The Indian Army took him to their camp when he entered Laju village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

After spending three decades in ULFA-I, Jibon Moran has returned to the mainstream. He was one of the top functionaries of the ULFA-I, who held different posts in the outfit.

Sources said he was interrogated by the Central intelligence agencies at the army camp.

ULFA (I) recently in a statement had stated that the outfit has decided to relive Jibon Moran due to his poor health condition.

Sources said the outfit has allowed Jibon Asom to return home after the leader requested to retire on “medical grounds”.

The 65-year-old Jibon Moran underwent training in Burma after joining the ULFA in 1984 and saw various blows to the outfit, including Operation Bajrang in 1990, Operation All Clear in Bhutan in 2003.

Moran, a resident of Uban village in Kakopathar in upper Assam’s Tinsukia district, is presently the senior-most functionary of the outfit.

He is reportedly unable to walk for long distances in the hills for his deteriorating health.
