Officially announced on September 19, 2024, Amelia is designed to assist sellers with real-time issue resolution and fetching business metrics such as sales and inventory data.

Initially launched in beta mode for select US sellers, Project Amelia is expected to roll out more widely later in 2024 both across the US and in other countries, with additional language support.
Project Amelia utilizes generative AI, which allows it to provide intelligent and personalized responses to seller queries. This generative AI is trained using public data and internal Amazon resources including frequently asked questions (FAQs), public web data and Amazon seller resources.
Amazon’s Project Amelia focuses on the tool’s ability to improve response times, reduce the need for human intervention and automate processes.
Sellers can ask Project Amelia for a summary of their business metrics such as recent sales, units sold and website traffic. This data is automatically compared with metrics from the same period the previous year.
One of Amelia’s core functions is to help sellers quickly troubleshoot account-related issues. Amelia can automatically file claims for issues like missing inventory, eliminating the need for sellers to submit forms manually.
According to Dharmesh Mehta, Amazon’s vice president of worldwide selling partner services, Amelia is expected to enhance support resolution times and may even resolve issues without the need for direct human interaction.
Amelia will be able to solve problems on behalf of sellers, streamlining processes like filing inventory claims or contacting support teams.
Sellers can ask follow-up questions and Amelia will provide actionable steps or connect them with human support if needed.
Amelia is powered by Amazon Bedrock, a software tool that allows users to access large language models from multiple AI companies including Anthropic and Stability AI.
The AI assistant uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to pull seller-specific information from Amazon’s internal systems. RAG combines generative AI capabilities with traditional information retrieval methods, ensuring data security while pulling personalized information.
Amazon has assured its sellers that Amelia is not trained on seller-specific data such as individual merchant accounts or proprietary sales data. Instead, it pulls relevant information in real-time when needed.
This privacy helps ensure that the seller’s data is not used for AI model training, safeguarding the privacy and confidentiality of their business activities.
Sellers can ask Project Amelia specific business-related questions such as, “What are the best practices for the holiday season?” or “How do I optimize my product listings?”. The assistant responds with personalized information gathered from reliable sources, helping sellers stay informed without spending time searching for resources.
Project Amelia provides relevant and tailored suggestions, making it easier to plan, prepare and execute business strategies based on Amazon’s policies and trends.

Sellers can ask Project Amelia for business performance data by simply asking questions like “How are my sales this week?” or “What’s the customer traffic for my top-selling products?”. The AI generates a summary of business metrics including sales numbers, units sold, website traffic and comparison data from the previous year.
For more specific queries such as a particular product’s performance (e.g., “What about my cotton t-shirts?”), Project Amelia breaks down the sales data and offers actionable insights into product-specific trends.
A feature of Project Amelia will allow the AI to offer solutions for more complex issues such as supply chain delays or inventory discrepancies. Sellers will be able to ask the assistant to investigate problems such as missing shipments and Amelia will connect them with the appropriate support team or initiate actions to resolve the issue.
Project Amelia will evolve to not only diagnose problems but also take actions like adjusting inventory levels or setting up promotions without seller intervention.
One of the advantages highlighted in Amazon Amelia news is that the assistant saves sellers time by streamlining complex processes and minimizing the need for manual intervention.
Project Amelia learns from each seller’s unique business setup, offering advice and support tailored to their individual needs, products and customers. With real-time data and predictive insights, sellers can make more informed decisions on inventory, advertising and sales strategies.
A seller asks, “How do I optimize my holiday sales?” Project Amelia provides personalized guidance on sales strategies including keyword optimization and promotional timing.
A seller might ask, “Why aren’t my 300 units showing up in the report?” Project Amelia will look into the issue and coordinate with support to resolve it.
Project Amelia launched in beta on September 19, 2024, for a select group of US-based sellers. According to Amazon Amelia news, it will be gradually rolled out to more US sellers in the coming weeks. Later in 2024, the assistant will expand internationally with support for additional languages and regions.
