Bengaluru airport postpones launch of international operations at Terminal 2

BIAL requested international passengers to reach out to their respective airlines for more information and apologized for the inconvenience caused by the postponement.

In a statement, BIAL said, “The proposed shifting of international operations to Terminal 2 at Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru on August 31, 2023, stands postponed. After consulting all regulatory authorities, BIAL will release a firm date for the transition of international operations tomorrow.”

BIAL requested international passengers to reach out to their respective airlines for more information and apologized for the inconvenience caused by the postponement.

“We regret the inconvenience caused by this decision and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work towards creating the best possible travel experience for our passengers. We request all International passengers to reach out to their respective airlines for any further information.” BIAL said.

According to airport authorities, the tentative new date for opening international operations at Terminal 2 will be decided on September 12. An airport official stated anonymously that regulatory authorities did not approve the move given pending terminal operations such as immigration and security scanning.

It was earlier announced that Terminal 2 operations would commence international flights starting August 31, with the first scheduled flight being Singapore Airlines SQ508/SQ509 between Singapore and Bengaluru. Passengers on this route were to be the first to experience the international zone of the new terminal.
